About Greg

Greg Pettys is a Vice President with Bank of Springfield and has over 36 years of experience in the financial services industry. As a Certified Financial Planner, he has worked with thousands of successful business owners, high net worth individuals, banks and their legal and tax planning teams to implement business transition strategies, complex wealth transfer and estate planning techniques, executive benefits, charitable trusts, premium financed life insurance and bank owned life insurance. He attended Georgetown College and has the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®).

BookAuthority’s Josh Elledge recently identified the book Greg co-authored with Ron Deal and Attorney David Edwards on financial planning, “The Smart Stepfamily Guide to Financial Planning” as the #1 Best Estate Planning Book of All Time. He is frequently called upon to speak at training and educational seminars for clients, financial advisors, attorneys, and tax advisors.

Greg resides in Springfield, Illinois, with Johnita, his wife of over 30 years, and is the proud father of six children and a grandson.  Mike Pierceall continues providing real estate advice to start-ups and existing businesses in his voluntary capacity as a trusted affiliate partner for an organization that serves as an essential resource for struggling business owners.

Hidden within Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Business is this rich resource, one that doesn’t cost a cent.

It’s the Small Business Development Center, a cooperative effort of the private sector, the educational community and federal, state and local governments. While it is not the SBA, the SBDC is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Pierceall has presented during the SBDC’s monthly “Starting a Small Business” workshops on what to look for when searching for the ideal property in which to launch a business or expand an existing one. During the current COVID climate, you’ll find him educating SBDC clients as to how the timelines have changed with regard to the real estate lending and selling process.

About Deanne

Deanne Stegeman, a financial representative with COUNTRY Financial, is strongly tied to the communities in Southwestern Illinois where she has lived for over 35 years.  An Illinois native, she completed her Bachelor of Business in Accounting at Western Illinois University and her MBA at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.  She is a registered CPA in the State of Illinois and a licensed Certified Financial Planner™.

 

Since 1983, Deanne has been employed in the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area in various capacities.  She began as an auditor in the public accounting firm of Pricewaterhouse where she performed services primarily for privately owned companies and non-profit organizations.  Deanne returned ten years later, to then PricewaterhouseCoopers, to provide consulting services to publicly owned organizations with respect to securing and controlling their complex information systems.  During the interim ten years she worked in both privately and publicly held organizations in the fields of financial planning and analysis, internal audit and treasury.  Deanne’s experience includes employment with such well-known St. Louis institutions as Monsanto (now Bayer) and Anheuser-Busch (now AB InBev).

 

Deanne’s move into the field of personal financial planning was due in large part to her desire to help people.  She has over 20 years’ experience assisting individuals and small business owners with their financial planning and security needs such as home/auto and business insurance, retirement income, college funding, estate planning and various business planning issues (e.g. buy/sell arrangements, deferred compensation, key man insurance, etc.).

About Marti

Marti Wieland is a Certified Business Development Advisor with the Illinois Small Business Development Center at SIUE and is a certified QuickBooks Online trainer.  She has a background in small business, having owned and operated a small business in multiple states since 1991. As part of her business, she has mentored other entrepreneurs and enjoys seeing peoples’ ideas turn into realities.  A U.S. Army veteran, Marti has worked with for-profit and non-profit agencies, as well as with local governments.  She teaches QuickBooks Online through the SBDC and the SIUE Office of Educational Outreach.   Marti has a Masters in Public Administration from SIUE.

About Venessa

Venessa was born and raised in South Africa.

Wanting to pursue a better life for her and her children, Venessa, her husband, and their very young family moved to the United States in September of 2005.

An industry veteran, Venessa, joined Synergy Wealth Solutions in 2017 and quickly discovered that her passion in life is to help people plan for their next steps in life, even when they are unexpected and sometimes hard to navigate.

She learned that life is fragile and can change in a blink of an eye when she lost her husband of 28 years in August 2019.

The profound loss has made her even more passionate about helping her clients be prepared for all of life’s ups and downs.

Despite the life-altering events that have come their way, Venessa and her boys love the life they have built here, and in September of 2019, they took the oath to become United States citizens.

Her team’s primary areas of focus include Retirement Planning and Long-Term Care Planning, and she loves working with both pre-and current retirees. Venessa resides in O’Fallon, Missouri, and is the proud mom of Caleb and Ethan, who are her pride and joy
